Hi Peter,
We had a beautiful and quite birdy day today. A good group of 40-50 people, and birds in various pockets, especially in the south end of the park. We ended up with 58 species including 14 species of warblers.

Highlights were probably the 5 common nighthawks migrating, and many black-and-white and northern parulas.

Post-nor’easter gates still open on a lovely morning in the park. A few flocks of migrating Blue Jays, and an uncommon for the park Red-bellied Woodpecker on pier 1. The best spot was the rocks by the pier 1 marsh, where a Yellow-breasted Chat showed well along with a Lincoln’s sparrow and assorted warblers. 

We nearly walked into a Red-tailed Hawk on Pier, who didn’t mind our presence, and caught up with a few more sparrows. After I left, the group picked up more warblers and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. More to come as we get into fall. 

20 attendees, 35 species.
