Hi Peter,

Good seeing you today!  Today was one of those spectacular days you know you will remember forever.  The trees were truly dripping with birds we didn't know where to look first.  They were low down and active and easy to see.  While we didn't get any super-rare birds, we got eyes-full of 16 species of warblers.  5+ Cape May and Tennessee.  We had a Bay-breasted that we got to contrast with Blackpolls.

Looks like winds will be from the west and south for the next few days so i hope they stick around for Thursday!

I am attaching a photo from walk participant Martha Weintraub.  i'm sure Janet got some good shots as well.

b.

Hey Peter!

It was pretty dead today for birds. We had to look really hard to see anything. But as you know we got a Philadelphia Vireo (likely two but one confirmed), a dead Red-neck Phalarope, and a picture from a new birder of a juvenile Red-neck Grebe, an unusual plumage for us, that had been there last Monday.

We did see a Scarlet Tanager, Parula, Redstart, Palm, Yellow, Chestnut-sided warblers and Yellowthroat.

The trip was full and there were a couple on the wait list. Attached is an awesome group photo from Charles and the species list. The attached Philly vireo pics are by Dan Smith. More photos of birds to come.

I might be interested in leading another one there in October. When do sparrows get good?

Thanks!
Adelia

Hi Peter,

Reporting in, we had a great walk today. It wasn't super birdy, but there were some nice pockets of warblers, and we ended up with 42 species of birds, 10 warblers.

The highlight was really the group itself: everyone was very enthusiastic and well-behaved, in our corona times. And yet I think we were able to get most everyone on all of the species found.
We had a full group of 12, which I think turned to be an OK size.

Highlights: a Belted Kingfisher catching a fish, a Prairie Warbler up in the butterfly meadow, a very early Blackpoll Warbler, a Cicada that came to life rather unexpectedly, a nice hummingbird moth, and also a Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

Here's the list. Looking forward to the next one.

Best regards,
Tom
