Hi Peter,
I led the first Sunday walk yesterday and with a group of about 20 people we had a fine morning. Though it was less active than the day before, there were still some fun sightings: a Cooper's Hawk and Peregrine Falcon chasing each other in the airspace over Wellhouse Drive; a group of one Least and three Semipalmated Sandpipers on the Lefrak splash pad, offering us instructive side-by-side views; and a flyover Blue-winged Teal as we gathered at the Boathouse to start the outing. We also heard a Red-breasted Nuthatch in the pines at the Peninsula tip, which, on the same day as an Evening Grosbeak was sighted at Green-Wood Cemetery, perhaps bodes well for a finch irruption this fall/winter.
