Hi Peter,

We had some great weather and it turned out to be very birdy. We had 60 species and good numbers of some, including lots of American redstarts.

Highlights were

Connecticut Warbler (found by Adelia and eventually seen by everyone, albeit mostly in brief bits and pieces)

Yellow-billed Cuckoo

1 Tennessee, a few Cape Mays, Black-throated Blue and Green, Magnolia, Northern Parula; a total of 16 species of warblers.

Hi Peter and Rob,

we had a great group this morning!  we looked for, but didn't find, the Connecticut, but we did see a lot of warblers (13 sp),  going around the lake via 3-sisters.   We had an interesting sparrow on top of LeFrak that i thought might be a clay-colored, but we couldn't relocated and i went back after the walk and was unable to find any sparrows.

Lenny kept the list for us today (thanks Lenny!).  Phil(s) or Sheila, if we missed anything please let me know.

I'm happy to report that the trip to Jamaica Bay yielded a good number of shorebirds and some other species. It was a bit dicey walking around Dead Man's Cove but otherwise the water levels were fine and there was a reasonably good selection of species. Nothing rare but at least good views of almost everything we had.

Highlights included

Lots of Juv Short-billed Dowitchers

Several Stilt Sandpipers

Several White-rumped Sandpipers

Juv and adult Semipalmated and Least Sandpipers

Nice fly-bys of Yellow-crowned NIght-heron

A snout butterfly (thanks to Tom and Gail)

A sand wasp covering over a hole it had dug in the sand.
