Subject: Floyd Bennett Field & Marine Park Salt Marsh Walk
Hi Peter,
It was a beautiful day for a walk! 16 enthusiastic birders met at Floyd Bennett Field, the first stop on our trip. It was nice to hear the Savannah Sparrows singing. We then got good looks at two Ring-necked Pheasants as they stepped out of the edge of the North 40 and onto the runway. On our next stop, the Salt Marsh Nature Center at Marine Park, we saw many of the same birds we had seen at Floyd. There were still some Ruddy Ducks hanging around, Greater Yellowlegs, Forster's Terns and a very close, low-flying Turkey Vulture. The last bird of our trip, the long-lingering male Northern Pintail, was a highlight.
