Hi Peter,

Calvert Vaux and Six Diamonds is not as good as it was last year. On this same weekend last year there were Blue Grosbeak, Little Blue Heron, Caspian Tern, Belted Kingfisher and lots of breeding activity, including an Orchard Oriole feeding a Cowbird chick (confirmed breeding for both birds). This past Saturday it was pretty dead. The entire season hasn't been as good at CV and SD this year. Last year there was a pair of Belted Kingfishers likely breeding, and tons of Common Yellowthroat breeding and I haven't even observed those species this year. Hardly hear Carolina Wren even though last year they were probably breeding. Unfortunately, drone activity is back at CV and I wonder if this is a factor. A few weeks ago I observed a pair of Cedar Waxwings building a nest. As I watched them, a little drone kept buzzing around. In the weeks since, I have not been able to relocate the Waxwings and wonder if they abandoned the nest.

As far as attendance was concerned, a lot of people were out of town. There were 5 of us total, including a young woman in 7th grade who is very enthusiastic about birds and who came down from Westchester with her dad.

Here is a list including breeding codes where observed.

Mallard
Rock Pigeon
Mourning Dove
Chimney Swift
Spotted Sandpiper
American Oystercatcher
