First a Happy New Year from the Brooklyn Bird Club ! Good birds be your fortune in 2012

A terrific start for the Brooklyn Bird Club New Year's Day traditional walk in Prospect Park of recent years with several quality birds seen today. Most notably was GREEN HERON,a juvenile that was seen on the Brooklyn CBC, continuing its spotty showing till today, but in the same exact location in Phragmites reeds recess along south Breeze Hill shores.

Then there are the long time reliable warblers that delighted birds of late fall: BLACK&WHITE WARBLER , and ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER. The B&W is sticking to same particular area, the south side of the Nethermead Bridge, either side of the watercourse. Several of my walk's birders and me saw it on the left slope of the bridge from the bridge top. The ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER was seen at Lamppost #249, by the Well Dr picnic tables where after a brief perch on a small tree, it flew across to the tall pine on the other side of the drive, feeding from the top downward.
