Doodletown Harriman State Park May 20

Leader Tom Stephenson

Hi Doodletowners,

Sat was a really great day: good group, wonderful birds, cooperative weather. We had 85 species including 21 species of warblers...not bad at all. Peter, doing the trip early, when there are still migrants coming through and the birds are building their territories and nests is definitely the way to go.

Highlights were a female Cerulean with nesting materials, many other Ceruleans including a very drab first-year male, great looks at a singing Golden-winged, several cuckoos including Black-billed and lots more.

The only downside was the trip back into the city took about 10 hours, but we did learn a lot of new Spanish words from Rafael (thanks to him and Chang for their help during the trip as well.)
Finally thanks the Marisa for doing all of the tough work organizing everyone.

Looking forward to the next one. Here are a few quick photos (I'm on the road giving workshop in CM so don't have time to go through them all or make a link) and the list below.
Please let us all know if I've forgotten anything.

Best regards,
Tom
