Leader Steve Nanz
( Trip rescheduled to the 5th due to poor weather)
Peter,
We went to Plumb Beach for the
Wheatear but struck out. Did see Royal Tern and
Black Scoter as consolation. We
then went to Floyd Bennett where we came on some
good sparrow activity including
Lincoln's and White-crowned. After striking out
a second time on the Wheatear,
we went to find the Say's Phoebe reported at
Edgemere Landfill and was this
time rewarded for the effort.
So here is the list - 49
species! Please let Peter know if I missed anything.
Rusty kindly sent me his list which
included only his sightings so I added
Carolina Wren (heard at PB),
Black-throated Green Warbler (I think this was seen
by several at PB), Blue Jay (FB
- with the E. Phoebes), Yellow Warbler (PB),
Crow sp (Seen in Rockaways and
trip back), and Mourning Dove. If we want to add
Redtail which I saw on Flatbush
on our way to PB, it puts us at 50. Sparrow sp
seen going into the marsh at PB
makes it 51.
