Reporting in from our Thursday walk: We had a great group of enthusiastic birders. We informally divided into two groups for the first hour or so, as we had a few more people than expected due to a couple of walk-ins and some people who had said they didn't think they were going to be able to make it, but did. But we were back to normal size after an hour or so, with several people leaving for work.
The park was significantly less birdy, in general, than the last 3 weeks, but still lots of pockets of really fun species; and we ended up with a total of 58, 13 species of warblers.
Highlights were some very cooperative male Black-throated Blues and Black-throated Greens, lots of Blackpolls, a fantastic, super-drab Cape May, an unfortunately uncooperative Black-billed Cuckoo, and a fairly cooperative Gray-cheeked Thrush. We had a Cooper's Hawk follow us for a short while, a Peregrine, a Kestrel, and an on-and-off Osprey. Also a large pod of Ruddy Ducks and 2 Shovelers, a sign of things to come...
