Hi Peter,
Another fantastic Fall day, with great weather and a surprising number of birds, still!
It's hard to believe we got 79 species again....same as last week.
The number is a bit higher as we had two groups, due to the group size restrictions.
Highlights: Orange-crowned Warbler, 7 species of raptors including a Bald Eagle seen by Karen, Rusty Blackbird, also Karen's group pre-merger..., 12 species of warblers including the OC and a Wilson's, a Bufflehead, thanks to Michele, and more.
Here's the list. I guess this is the last one for the Fall season, but we've got to consider doing more popup or regular walks as Winter arrives.
Best regards,
Tom

Hi Peter,
We had a very enthusiastic group on our "extra" Thursday walk today.
Thanks to Karen, we could accommodate about 20 people for the walk.
We had 74 species, with a good mix of warblers, raptors and ducks.
Highlights: Black-capped Chickadee!!! first one many of us have seen for several years. In the same vein: Brown Creeper, both nuthatches, House and Purple Finches; flyover Siskins; 14 species of warblers, Gadwall, Wigeon, Merlin, American Kestrel, Karen had flyover Monk Parakeets.
Here's the list.
Next week maybe???

Tom

Hey Peter,
Had a good group this morning and everyone seemed to have enjoyed themselves. The highlight was finding a Blue Grosbeak on the wildflower ridge next to the historic chapel (perfect habitat for one). Below is the day list.
Cheers,
Rob

Hi Peter,
Reporting in from our Thursday walk: We had a great group of enthusiastic birders. We informally divided into two groups for the first hour or so, as we had a few more people than expected due to a couple of walk-ins and some people who had said they didn't think they were going to be able to make it, but did. But we were back to normal size after an hour or so, with several people leaving for work.
The park was significantly less birdy, in general, than the last 3 weeks, but still lots of pockets of really fun species; and we ended up with a total of 58, 13 species of warblers.
Highlights were some very cooperative male Black-throated Blues and Black-throated Greens, lots of Blackpolls, a fantastic, super-drab Cape May, an unfortunately uncooperative Black-billed Cuckoo, and a fairly cooperative Gray-cheeked Thrush. We had a Cooper's Hawk follow us for a short while, a Peregrine, a Kestrel, and an on-and-off Osprey. Also a large pod of Ruddy Ducks and 2 Shovelers, a sign of things to come...
Here's the list.
Best regards,
Tom
