Hi Peter,

We ended up with 15 species of warblers and 61 bird species...so not bad. Highlights were Phila Vireo, Peregrine, Merlin, and way too many N. Parula to count. And...the coots are back....

It was most active on the thumb and also south of the lake...

I'll send you a few shots later.

Best regards,
Tom

Hi Peter,

we had a delayed start of 9:30 since last night it looked like rain.  Even so we had a great day.  17 warbler sp.  we went around the lake from picnic tables, counter-clockwise.  Very very active around thru to 3-sisters.  I think we could have done a big-sit anywhere along there and done well.  seems like birds are staging to leave?  We didn't get to lookout, penna or ravine, so overall sp count is low.

Best,
Bobbi

Dear Dennis:

What started out as a dreary morning, turned into terrific birding day. Many of the regular Saturday birders showed up, and everyone pitched in to get more than 60 species, including 20 Warblers, a Philadelphia Vireo and a Bald Eagle.

Thanks to Kathy T, Richard, Gus, Patty, Ryan, Angie, Adam, Isabel, Rob Bate, Tracy, Chris and two new to the group, Bess and another fellow whose name slips my mind, for their help in spotting and identifying. And thanks to Leah and Simon (the author of our Bald Eagle sighting) for joining up on the second part of the walk.  I hope I haven't left anyone out. I enjoyed the walk.

Kathy T helped me construct the list.

Hi Peter,

Hope your eye is getting better.

Today we had a good group (of people that is....) but a very "still" park...you could hear a pin drop, as far as the birds went.
Actually we did manage to eke out some good birds but it was a lot of work....

We finally had 14 species of warblers...top being good looks at Tennessee on Lookout; and a good comparison of Hairy and Downy Woodpeckers working on the same section of the trunk. Also a Ruby-throated Hummingbird came out and fed on flowers in the planter near where we gather to begin. We'd hoped that would be a harbinger of things to come....unfortunately not....

But the highlight of the day for some of us was the Marsh Wren originally found and then re-found by Rafael Campos. It was showing very well in the vale of Cashmere. I'll send a photo or two later.

Here's the list.

Best regards,
Tom

Hi Peter,

Well.......it was pretty slow....We thought the bird of the day was going to be a hummingbird moth....but all in all it was very beautiful and we did have some quality time with very close sanderlings and royal terns out on the beach. We went to  Floyd Bennett and spent some time there as well but it also was dead...

Here's the list. I'll send a note to the group as well.

Best regards,
Tom
