On the Brooklyn Bird Club trip to Jones beach Matthew Rymkiewicz and I found a Northern Shrike ( see note at bottom species is re-identified) on the east end of the Nature Boardwalk by the Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center at Parking Field #1. A little while later, Lynn Hertzog spotted a whale.
We went to Point Lookout after lunch. While parking in the Malibu Beach Parking Lot, we found a large flock of Dunlin and Black-bellied Plovers. There were a few Sanderlings mixed in along with a Red Knot and a Golden Plover.
