Hi Peter,

We had a nice long 7+ hour walk today.  8 or 9 participants including a visitor from AZ for whom we got a few life birds.  There are still lots of warblers, but also kinglets, junkos and chipping sparrows coming thru.  Butterfly and West Island were the most active.  Kathy, Karen and I persevered for the full duration, ending at Westwood which was also very active with chipping sparrows, phoebes, kinglets and i'm sure there's lots more hiding in there, given a little perseverance.

Hi Peter,

Well, we had a very hardy group of birders today out braving the elements. Actually other than it being freezing cold with lots of wind it was a great fall day.

Although at first there weren't many birds as brave as the birders, eventually they came out in full force, and we ended up with 62 species. Possibly due to the wind and cold, birds were moving very fast so some of the sightings were too brief; but in the end, most birds provided multiple views.

Hot spots were Lookout and the Lullwater. Highlights include 19 species of warblers with Hooded twice (once by the upper pool, mostly just heard, and then displaying very well in the lullwater); 5 species of woodpeckers, 2 Raccoons, Veery, Wood, Swainson's and Gray-cheeked Thrushes; 2 kinglet species; Scarlet Tanager, Indigo Bunting and Philadelphia Vireo.

Kathy and I had a group of about 10 today.  Overall it was slow, we eeked out 14 warblers but worked hard for them again this week.  Butterfly was most active and hooded remains by terrace bridge on the side closer to the sumacs.  I have a great photo from Gus will forward separately.

Hi Peter and Rob,

We had 12 participants today including a couple from California.  The day started slowly with minimal activity on Lookout, we were excited to find a redstart.  As the day warmed up and especially in areas protected from wind, we found pockets of activity.   We ended up netting 14 species of warblers, but we worked for them!  Our group ran into Joe Giunta who was leading his own walk.  They had just seen a Hooded Warbler along the Lullwater just beyond the Sumacs.  We looked but didn't find it.  But later, after we finished on the Peninsula, Gus found the bird farther along the Lullwater, beyond the Terrace Bridge.  We got quick, but adequate looks at a young/female type.  Our other good birds were a Wood Thrush on the Penna (also found by Gus) and 8 Green-winged Teal on the lake.

Surprise of the day was a yellow throated vireo on the north side of butterfly. I'm sure I missed a few but A fun day with 53+ species. Saturday group is really starting to bird well as a team.

We had a very enthusiastic group today; and a fairly birdy park to offer. Most of the birds seemed thinly spread out over all of the areas we visited, without too many really active "pockets" other than the vale, where a fruiting tree offered at least 3 Tennessee Warblers, Baltimore Oriole, Scarlet Tanager, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Wilson's Warbler, and more.

Overall we had 16 species of warblers including Wilson's, Blackpoll, Prairie, and Tennessee. We also had a somewhat brief Philadelphia Vireo on Lookout.

The bird of the day may have been a Common Nighthawk probably spooked from its roost by a young Red-tailed Hawk.

It was birdy, but not spectacular.  14 sp warbler.  I had an adult Bald Eagle flyover after the group had dispersed, that was cool.
