Peter,

All but three folks canceled due to weather concerns. Those who braved the wind and rain had the pleasure of seeing:

Cattle Egret

I ended up cutting the trip short as it really started pouring just after noon. Nobody minded and it was a county or state bird for all three!

Hi Peter,

Well, it was sad to be doing our last Thursday walk for the season. Violating all of my instincts and rules I allowed everyone, myself included, 30 seconds to be verklempt ...before getting back to the important job of birding....

It was very slow in the park....somebody had "hoovered out" all of birds the night before....but we did manage to dig up some good species including
White-crowned Sparrow (thanks to Gus), Purple Finch, Nashville Warbler, American Widgeon, a Merlin, a fleeting Peregrine (thanks to Kathy), a fairly cooperative Winter Wren, a very cooperative Black-throated green Warbler.

Here's the list. I'll send a couple of shots later.
Guess we all have to hole up inside and wait for Spring now

Best regards,
Tom

Hi Peter,

we had a good group today the final participant left at 4:16!  We netted 66 sp.  We had decent sparrows and too many yellow-rumps!  Chipping, Field and White-crown best.  Also we relocated the 2 rusty's on the tarps between 3-sisters and the Hammerehead, Janet may have photos.  Two NOWA and a Yellow Warbler came up rare.

This was the final Tuesday walk, thanks to Kathy for co-leading and everyone for turning out this fall.

Best,
Bobbi

Hi Peter,

we had a fantastic day!  I think it was the right call extending the walks 2 more weeks.

The 'magic' tree by the picnic tables, when you enter by Vanderbilt, was covered in warblers, highlight being two Cape Mays, we didn't know where to look first.   It was also a great sparrow day, we had white-crowned, great looks at two lincoln's, swamp and white-throated.   The south side of the park was the best but the 2 thrashers continue up on Lookout and there was reasonable activity up there as well.

Here is a pic of the Lincoln's.

Best,
Bobbi
