December 9th Long Island State parks and duck ponds

Note : this trip original trip locations from Fort Tilden and Floyd Bennett were changed due to Hurricane Sandy severe impact on these parks and their closures.

December 1st Jones Beach

13 participants braved the chill at Jones Beach and Point Lookout to
enjoy a nice day out.  Highlights were 2 late Semipalmated Plovers at
the West End 2 swale, Snow Buntings, Horned Larks, and brief looks at
a Common Redpoll and 5 White-winged Crossbills at the Roosevelt Nature
Center parking lot.  At Point Lookout, the group easily found 3
Harlequin Ducks around the jetties at Point Lookout Town Park, and
observed all 3 scoter species.  50 species total.
